What changed, release by release.
Updates arrive inside the app (Screenpane → Check for Updates…) and are listed here. What is coming next is on the roadmap.
1.7.1 September 2026
A monthly plan: Screenpane now comes as a £29 lifetime licence or £7 a month.
New
- Buy buttons offer both plans: click for lifetime, or open the menu for monthly. Both use the same licence key.
Changed
- An activated Mac checks its licence at launch and once a day. After 30 days without reaching the licence server, export waits until it can check again. Settings › License has a Check Again button.
1.7 September 2026
Pixel frames for Google Play: pages frame your screenshots in photo-style Pixel devices.
New
- Pick the Pixel model on the Device Bezel card.
- A new project remembers the device you used last, and the name is optional.
- After importing screenshots you pick a layout, so you choose it while looking at your own screens.
- Arrow keys step number fields in the inspector, and move or resize a close-up region.
- The Welcome window’s recent projects work from the keyboard. Settings lists every keyboard shortcut.
- Zoom moved to the bar under the canvas, which leaves the toolbar clear.
Faster
- Typing captions, editing panoramas, undo and sidebar thumbnails all do less work, so big projects stay smooth.
Fixed
- Device frame art fills the screen area exactly.
- The panorama join button no longer slips under the next screen.
1.6 September 2026
Badges in every language: star ratings, award laurels, callout pills and review quotes translate with the rest of the screen.
New
- Preview another language and the badge card edits that language’s lines. Leave one empty and it shows your base language’s.
- Translate on the badge card fills the languages that are missing, the same way it does for captions. Lines you’ve written yourself are kept.
- A star rating’s number is written the local way: 4,9 in German and French.
- Changing the base language moves badge text with it, as it does captions.
1.5 September 2026
Google Play screenshots: the set you designed for the App Store, laid out again for Android, feature graphic included.
New
- Choose New Google Play Page from the switcher above the screens list. Every screen is copied and laid out again at Android sizes: iPhone designs become Android phone (1080×1920), iPad designs Android tablet (1440×2560), the 9:16 shape Play needs to feature an app.
- Phones are drawn with a punch-hole camera, and captions keep the lines and edges you set them to.
- A feature graphic (1024×500) is added to the page, starting from your App Store title and subtitle.
- Exports land in the Play Console’s layout, the one fastlane supply uploads: a folder per language, phone and tablet slots, and featureGraphic.png. PNGs have no alpha channel, as Play requires.
- The export sheet warns about a missing feature graphic, too few or too many screenshots, and files over Play’s 8 MB.
- Uploading to Google Play is by hand or with fastlane for now.
1.4 September 2026
Custom product pages and product page tests: design every page of your listing in one project, and upload each one straight to App Store Connect.
New
- A project holds more than one page. Beside the product page, start a custom product page or a product page test treatment from the switcher above the screens list.
- A new page starts as a copy of the one you’re on, sharing its captures, so you change only what that page is testing.
- Upload a page straight to a custom product page or a test treatment you’ve made in App Store Connect. Screenpane remembers which one each page goes to, and only offers those still open for changes.
- Each page exports into a folder of its own, named after it. The product page exports where it always has.
1.3.1 September 2026
A small fix.
Fixed
- Settings now opens centred on your project window instead of wherever it was last left.
1.3 September 2026
frametto is now Screenpane — and the biggest release yet: new layouts, captions that fit in every language, and exports and uploads you can trust.
The rename
- The app updates itself to Screenpane. Your licence, trial and saved App Store Connect keys carry over untouched.
- Your projects move from Documents/Frametto to Documents/Screenpane on first launch, and your recent projects follow them. New projects save as .screenpane; .frametto files anywhere else still open.
- frametto.com now forwards to screenpane.com, and the old download link still works.
New
- Seven new layouts: Classic, Top Bleed, Side Peek, Zoom Callout, Frameless, Big Headline and Social Proof. The picker shows each one on your own screen.
- Caption fit: see where a translated caption overflows, per language, and fit it in one click.
- Choose which languages an export writes, one checkbox each.
- Imports read each file’s App Store size and only ask about the odd ones; Simulator captures name their device from the filename.
- An Image tool under the canvas, and a short guide over your first screens.
Export and upload
- Every file renders at its exact target size, and a missing capture fails its slot instead of exporting grey.
- A failed upload puts back what it removed, so an App Store Connect set is never left empty.
- Each set uploads in slot order, one file per screen, and the file list shows what went in and what didn’t.
- Accounts with more than 200 apps list them all; Norwegian uploads use the code App Store Connect expects.
Projects and licence
- Saving is atomic and Save As copies the whole project; a project moved in Finder is never recreated behind your back.
- Changing the base language moves captions, translations and metadata with it.
- A keychain hiccup no longer downgrades a paid licence.
Faster and more accessible
- The canvas redraws less, and images load and exports write off the main thread.
- VoiceOver can select, open and link screens in the Set overview, and colour wells have names.
1.2 September 2026
Housekeeping. Nothing moves in the app — but the keychain stops calling itself by an old name.
Under the hood
- Your licence, trial and saved keys move to keychain entries named after frametto. macOS used to name the old project when it asked permission to read them; now it names this one.
- The move happens once, on first launch, and is checked both ways before anything old is removed.
- The entry holding your translation key no longer claims to be for a different AI provider than the one it calls.
1.1 September 2026
Panoramas that actually span slots, a canvas that snaps, and every command reachable from the menu bar.
Panoramic sets
- Layers cross from one linked slot into the next — a device, a headline or a badge can straddle the seam.
- You see the crossing while you drag it, not after the export.
- A slot’s own phone steps aside for one crossing over it.
- Click a neighbour’s phone on the canvas to jump to that screen and edit it.
Design
- Drags snap to the canvas and to other layers, with guides that show what they caught.
- A region picker you can aim: pull a close-up out of the capture by eye.
- Import a font file into the project so captions match the app.
- Four starters that differ in composition, not just colour.
- Sliders get tick marks, a value tooltip, and a proper knob for angles.
- A Theme row sits next to what it changes.
Canvas
- The insert tools become a tool bar on the canvas itself.
- Screens, Creative Assets and Layers all collapse.
- Zoom is four magnifiers, the way the device hub does it.
- “Actual Size” becomes “Actual Pixels”, and now tells the truth.
- The + that adds a screen sits over the list it adds to.
Menus
- Every canvas view command has a menu-bar home; toolbar-only commands got menu routes.
- The Edit menu names the step it will undo, and text fields keep their own undo stack.
- Change Theme… moves to File, where Keynote keeps it.
Ship
- Per-screen export sizes, in a sheet that fills its own width.
- The bundle-ID match is stated plainly instead of buried in the list.
1.0 beta September 2026
The first build outside the studio. Capture, design, translate and ship a full App Store set from one window.
Capture
- Watch a folder so ⌘S in Simulator lands straight in the project.
Design
- Layered canvas: background, device, text, image, breakout and badge layers, each with its own inspector.
- iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and iPad Pro product bezels in true body colours, or a flat drawn frame in any colour.
- Transform card with position pad, rotation globe and 3D tilt on every layer.
- Panoramic sets: one background flowing across several screens.
- Keyword highlight: wrap a word in ** to colour it.
- Badges (star rating, laurel, pill, quote) and breakouts cropped from the capture.
- Mesh, gradient and solid backgrounds, multi-stop and radial, with a grain slider.
- Sample project on first launch so the first canvas you see is a finished set.
Ship
- Export every device size and language in one pass, named the way App Store Connect wants them.
- Translate captions into 36 App Store languages on your own OpenAI key.
- Push screenshots, title, subtitle, keywords, description and what's-new straight to App Store Connect.
App
- Welcome window with recents, like Xcode.
- 14-day trial, licence keys with 3 Mac activations, in-app updates.
